October Employee of the Month

Truck-Side; U-Pick-Fish, Sea-Hawgs

Eric Lacourse

Eric joined us in Burnside from Woodside over a year ago. We were looking for people who wanted a change and were eager to grow within our company. Eric took that challenge and enthusiastically went to work in U-Pick-Fish food truck. He is highly dedicated and takes great pride in his work, never wanting to disappoint anyone. He appreciates the opportunity we’ve offered him and strives to make the perfect piece of fish for his customers every time.

Eric has now moved to face another challenge in Sea-Hawgs food truck. We will wait for his supervisor to let us know if his pizzas are as good as his fish. Eric, thank you for the effort you constantly give and the pride you put into producing the best possible product. I see you going along way with us. Well deserved Employee of the Month, congratulations

October Supervisor of the Month

Truck-Side; Cheese Curds, Sea-Hawgs

Andrew Miller

Andrew Miller

Andrew (Dr. Drae) has been with the company for 4 years now, starting out in Woodside as a dishwasher and moved up to the main grill line shortly after. I took the role of executive chef at our Burnside location when it opened and a year later when we opened Truck-Side, I brought Andrew along for the ride, making him the supervisor of one of the food trucks.  He’s a quiet man that hardly says a word but when he tells his team something they listen (with a little help from me of course). He’s been working the Cheese Curds grill and the Sea-Hawgs food truck for a while now, and living the dream along side of me with his saying “This is it!!” His pizzas and the ribs are consistently the top of their class.

Andrew is one of a kind, working whenever I need him, wherever I need him and pushes the team when he’s in the driver seat. I think he wants to follow me in my singing career that went nowhere, but at least he tries. A good friend and a leader that continues to work hard. Thanks a lot Drew, you make it easier for me to sleep at night.

October Employee of the Month

Cheese Curds / Habaneros Oromocto

Dan Keenan

Dan started with us only 1 month after our opening. When he was interviewed we knew he would make a great cashier. He started out part-time and shortly after that he became our only full-time cashier. Now Dan spends his days working cash as well as working on the Habaneros line.

Dan's hard work, dedication and great people skills are only part of the reason why he earns October's Employee of the Month. He is always going above and beyond, and is a great example of what teamwork is all about. Way to go Dan, keep up the great work!

Cheese Curds Woodside

Rachel Powell

Rachel Powell

Rachel has been with us since August of this year and we couldn't be happier. She showed us that she was eager for the position, even calling me back to see how the interviews went. Within 2 days of hiring her I knew she was the perfect fit for the job. It didn't take her long to learn how everything was done and was already looking for other things to do, as she never stops. If you come into our Woodside location you will always see her cleaning, wiping things down, tidying things up and taking care of everything as if it was her own home.

I really appreciate having someone looking after all the little things, and you can tell as soon as you walk into the back of the kitchen that Rachel is working by how clean everything is. On top of that she always has candy in her pocket to give someone when they are feeling down. If you mention that you like freshly baked cookies or homemade bread, within a couple days she comes in with some just to brighten up your day. Always looking to do more and to stay busy is Rachel's motto, and this award is very well deserved. Congratulations Rachel, I would say keep up the great work but we both know I don't have to do that, in fact it's ok to slow down a bit every now and then.

September Employee of the Month

Cheese Curds & Habaneros Oromocto

Carlie Cole

Carlie has been with our team since the very beginning. She started out as a cashier and quickly moved on to being one of our best Cheese Curds garnishers. Once Habaneros opened she was thrilled to jump to the other side and start her Habaneros career.

She's now excelling as the weekend opener for Habaneros while she finishes her last couple years of high school. Carlie is a valued member of our team, and is well deserving of our very first Employee of the Month. Way to go Carlie, keep up the great work

Emily Jackson

This award has long been a long time coming. Emily has proven to be a great asset over the past year, taking on additional responsibilities and taking a leadership role on her own. She was easy train, catching on to our procedures and routine very quickly. Emily readily lends a hand to others and enjoys taking on training of new employees. She continually takes the lead on the Cheese Curds line and is ready to train at Habaneros to fill in when needed.

Her big smile and positive attitude make for a very enjoyable workplace; a fine example to her fellow workers. Always the one to crack a joke or the last one to get the punch line. A great pleasure to have on our team and getting to watch her grow. Congratulations Ms. Emily, very much deserved.

Josh Hanson

A huge piece of Cheese Curds and Truck-Side success, Josh yet again proves to us that he is a valuable asset and continues to grow in our company. This gentleman has been able to catch any curve we throw at him over the years, and strives at the challenge.

Awarded employee and supervisor of the month in the past, speaks volumes to his work ethic. His knowledge of cooking and his strength to follow direction and push a team as he does so often is a great accomplishment. Well done, once again Josh. Congratulations.

August Employee of the Month

Habaneros Woodside

Nathan Moreau

Nathan started his second stint with us back in March of 2016 and is a perfect example of how our employees grow within our company. He started at the bottom of the totem pole, as they say when he came back. He's worked his way up rather quickly over the past several months. Nathan was working primarily as one of our night closers, but with others moving on to further their Chef Inspired careers at our new locations, it gave him the opportunity to move up in Woodside.

It started with working days learning prep work, and last month it was training on opening procedures. Since then he’s been promoted to supervisor and now gets to pass along his skills and knowledge to new employees. Nathan’s upbeat personality and his excellent customer service skills are what keep our repeat customers coming back time and time again. Great job Nathan, a well deserved award!

August Employee of the Month

Habaneros South Park St.

Mary Beaton

Mary has been with Chef Inspired® Group of Restaurants for nearly three years now. Starting in Woodside she eventually made her way to our South Park location about eleven months ago, where she’s improved her skills and continually performs above expectations. From coming in on her days off to covering shifts, to making a day of work unforgettable. Aside from all her good humour and laughter she gets down to business and always gets the job done.

Not only working at South Park, Mary also returns to help Woodside whenever needed. She assists training new employees and is a great mentor to them. We are extremely fortunate to have Mary as part of our team and wish her the best of luck when she goes back to school. I couldn't be more proud of her, congratulations Mary very well deserved.

Zack Lewis

Zack Lewis

Zack has been with us since October of 2014 and is not only a stand up young gentleman but an employee anyone would be lucky to have as part of their crew. He's extremely dependable and reliable, never saying no when it comes to helping out.  Whether it be coming in on one of his days off or picking up extra hours when someone calls in sick.

He is currently in University and still holds down a full time position with us, which is an amazing feat that not many would be able to endure. I understand how important his education is, and while he's with us I'll continue to mentor him as my Jr Sous Chef and watch him continue to grow with the Chef Inspired family. Congratulations Zack, very much deserved.

Derek "Beater" Beaton

Derek "Beater" Beaton

Derek or “beater” as he’s better known, started working with us just over a year ago and has been a solid part-time kitchen attendant. Since then he’s moved up and also works the Cheese Curds front line and aboard our Cheese Curds Gourmet Dogs & Poutine food truck. During the past few months as we’ve swung into our busy season, Derek has really shown his worth and continually exceeds our expectations.

Derek’s not intimidated to try other stations, is highly motivated and always seeking to learn more. Adding to his strong work ethic is his positive and humorous disposition, cracking jokes and keeping staff morale high. Great job Beater you're an awesome teammate, always keep smiling. A very well deserved May Employee of the Month award.

May Supervisor of the Month

Chef Inspired Catering

Chef Colton Mackie

This young man started with us the first few days before we launched our first Cheese Curds in Dartmouth. Colton began with the company fresh, but with a lot of cooking knowledge he was soon overseeing production for both Cheese Curds and Habaneros in Woodside. Very eager to move up, Colton was the obvious choice to open and manage our third Habaneros location on South Park St in Halifax. Off to a slow start, he came up with many great ideas and incentives to help put South Park St on the map and raise to the success it is today.

Just recently, moving on up again Colton assumed the position of Sous Chef in our rapidly growing catering department at our Burnside location. With that he’s also taken on a more involved role here with Cheese Curds and Truck-Side, from customer service to teaching and mentoring junior staff. All that makes him our choice for supervisor of the month. Congrats little man, Keep reaching for your goals.

May Employee of the Month

Habaneros Woodside

Tanya MacPhee

Tanya originally started at Cheese Curds in March of this year and only had a couple of training shifts before our busiest time of the year, Halifax Burger Week. She helped with the overflow of insurmountable prep work that goes along with Burger Week. I was so proud of her, myself having worked a lot of different places where someone gets thrown into situations like that in their second week, they usually end up quitting. Tanya relished in the role and was a huge help, demonstrating how strong she could be under that type of pressure. Which in turn allows me to push her a little harder and move her into different roles in the kitchen.

With that being said, she is being moved to one of our daytime prep/opening positions at Habaneros this month. Tanya has a great smile and attitude, which is a valuable customer service asset, and at the same time keeps the moral of the kitchen upbeat. Congratulations and keep up the great work Tanya!

April Employee of the Month

Cheese Curds/Truck-Side Burnside

Tim Lundrigan

I am very pleased to announce our April employee of the month at Cheese Curds & Truck-Side, Tim Lundrigan. He started with us almost a year ago as our full time morning kitchen attendant, and he is still solid rock in that position today. Tim’s eagerness to learn has earned him opportunities in cooking positions also, with helping out on the fish station, Gweilo, and now Sea-Hawgs.

And he continues to shine. His big smile and knowledge about almost everything has him searching for bigger achievements in the fall as he continues his schooling. Being that go to guy when we need something done, his willingness to learn, and a machine at fry chipping made it an easy pick for our employee of the month. Tim Lundrigan everybody... the myth, the machine, the legend.

Congatualtions Tim, from all us at Truck-Side!

April Supervisor of the Month

Habaneros South Park St.

Chef Jamie Sawler

You may know Jamie by his signature smile at Habaneros on South Park St., or maybe from his last recognition as employee of the month. This time, after taking over the South Park St. Head Chef position from myself, Jamie has once again stepped up to the plate, knocked another dinger out of the park and has earned himself the Supervisor of the Month award.

With his diligence and dedication, always thinking about going the extra mile and often going two, Jamie continues to grow with our organization. His team of “Burrito Banditos” continues to shine under his lead and I have no doubts that he will find his own diamond in the rough to shape into his own image for the next step. Never stop learning, never stop teaching.

Outstanding job, Jamie, Congratulations!

April Employee of the Month

Cheese Curds Woodside

Marcus Cooper

Marcus was hired as our full time kitchen attendant this March, just over a week before our busiest time of the year... Halifax Burger Week!! I'm pretty sure he was glad that he had time to learn what he needed to do, as he was thrown to the wolves, so to say. I can't express enough how proud I am of him for the hard work and many hours that he put in. He made my life a little easier, for which I’m very grateful.

Marcus has been a great addition to our Chef Inspired family. He’s a quick learner and goes the extra mile to make sure that our customers always come in to a clean restaurant, all the while with a big smile on his face. The staff really enjoys working with him, his positive attitude not only shows in his work ethic but it makes everyone around him happy and upbeat as well. Congratulations on a doing great job Marcus, this award is very much deserved!

March Supervisor of the Month

Chef Inspired Group of Restaurants

Corporate Chef Kyle Christofferson

Chef Kyle - Always the character, having fun at work and keeping people motivated with his light heartiness humour. Don't be fooled by this, because when the restaurant gets crazy busy, his strong management attributes kick in and people resonate to his leadership and guidance under fire.

During Halifax Burger Week both Chef Kyle and Chef Ronnie stepped up their games. Choosing the supervisor of the month came down to Chef Ronnie's respect for Kyle, and his dedication to ensuring the whole team was on the top of their game.

Chef Kyle is a friend and a peer that we all love in our organization, and I'm proud to announce this months award to such a deserving individual. Bravo Zulu Chef Kyle!

Congrats Chef Kyle, you're the best!

March Employee of the Month

Truck-Side

Jason Awalt

Jason came to Burnside just a few months ago thoroughly trained from our Habaneros Woodside location, which is a huge asset for us during such a busy time. He is a quiet guy until you get to know him. A smooth operator, handles stressful situations well, and is great when it comes to customer service. And he’s very versatile, mastering the wok station at Gweilo and learning different stations in Truckside.

Burger Week was the busiest week we have ever seen and Jason rarely even took a break. He was one of the "go-to" guys for prep, extra hands on the line, or filling in on another station. He has really proved himself to be a valuable team player, and it's great having him on our team. Congratulations, and thank you for all your hard work Jason!

March Employee of the Month

Cheese Curds Woodside

James Purdy

James has been with us now since September of 2014 and is another one of those employees that every Chef loves to have. I seem to have quite the crew down here in Woodside as each member plays such an important role on our team.

James came to us with cooking experience so it made things a bit easier, just needing to show him how we do things the Chef Inspired way. It didn't take him long to fit right in and start working all our stations on the line and proving his worth to our little team here in Woodside. He is one of the guys who does the little things that make my life easier; stocking up all the little portion cups, take out trays, straws, napkins and condiment station every shift might not seem like a big deal, but it only seems that way because they are always there when you need them.

James really stepped up a few weeks prior to Halifax Burger Week with helping out wherever he could by taking shifts on his days off when we needed the help or working a bit later here and there. That carried right into burger week where he was a rock star, and I couldn't be more proud of him. Congratulations James on a well deserved award!
